Sheffield House RestorationExternal View of the Sheffield Property That Rejus is Restoring

An update on our efforts to restore a listed Sheffield property back to being a family home, showing an inside look at the various techniques used in the process.

Techniques have been focused on restoring the home while maintaining the building's legacy, protecting the original stone. Methods used have included the use of sheeps wool insulation in the roof and limecrete plastering, both effective techniques that are better for the old building compared to alternate methods.

The restoration has been ongoing across the summer and Rejus Director Mathew Lynds has been on site for most of the of the journey, capturing some fascinating images and detailing the journey on social media.

On his LinkedIn, Mathew stated;

"Update on our unique restoration project on this fantastic Sheffield house. REJUS LIMITED is looking to restore this property back to being a family home.

We're using Stonehealth Ltd DOFF and TORC machines to carefully remove lime wash and masonry paint from the basement.

We've also moved on to installing locally sourced sheep's wool to insulate the roof.

Fantastic experience getting to be part of such brilliant craftsmanship in progress!"

Following is a selection of some of the images he shared.

The following update focused on the plastering work being done at the property, with care being taken to preserve the original stone.

Posting once more on social media, Mathew Lynds said of the project;

"Another update on our project to restore a listed Sheffield property back to being a family home.

This week's focus: First base coat of plastering.

You can see the improvement already!

A traditional 3 coat internal lime render system is being used for a REJUS LIMITED client's property. Pictures below are after the first coat has been applied.

Second coat being applied this week!"
