We recently won a contract with Sheffield Insulation Group’s (SIG) Plymouth site to replace their low efficiency warehouse lighting with energy efficient LED’s. Rejus is happy to be involved in such a great move for sustainability.
SIG Contacted us on Wednesday the 16th, Director Mathew Lynds and Operations Manager John Hope were on site that same day to inspect the work that needed doing. SIG were quoted on the Friday and we were awarded the job that same afternoon.
Why LED’s?
The process of changing the lights to LEDs is an action which improves the sustainability of any company, a move that Rejus is always thrilled to support. LED’s consume much less electricity than the standard High Intensity Discharge (HID) or fluorescent lighting. These outdated, less efficient and less safe forms of lighting are still used in many warehouses today, so we’re always happy to see a company wanting to upgrade their site.
LED’s have a much higher life span than other competing forms of lighting, and it’s not even close. On average Industrial LED’s can last upwards of 50,000 hours, the closest competitor being Fluorescent lighting which can only last up to 36,000 hours on average. Even cheap domestic LED’s, which last around 5,000 hours, is a big step up over incandescent bulbs whose peak sits between 1,000 and 2,000 hours.

Alongside this was the task of making alterations to their fire alarm to suit a new layout. Rejus take any matter to do with fire safety or safety equipment seriously, and we’re committed to addressing these issues as soon as possible with the upmost efficiency.
Alongside this work in Plymouth, we also won a contract with another SIG branch, this time in Leeds. This job will involve our team disconnecting the existing portacabins, reconnecting replacement portacabins, and installing data points to suit the sites requirements. These onsite portable offices are extremely valuable to construction or refurbishment sites, useful for anything from catering to office space. This high quality and eco-friendly portacabins are great additions for any site in need, while remaining friendly to all sustainable aspirations.
